An Egyptian study recently published in the Journal of Medicinal Food has shown benefits when honey is added to the oral rehydration solution used in the treatment of Gastroenteritis in infants and children.
An abstract of the study can be seen here:

While it is great to see further evidence of honey being useful in medicine, when it comes to using with infants we would urge caution unless is under the supervision / instruction of a doctor or medical professional. While this is not an issue with older children, for infants under 1 (and some opinion says under 2 years age) honey is generally not recommended as their digestive systems are still developing. Care is also required that any honey used has been properly filtered to avoid risk of infant botulism.
Overall though it is good to see more evidence of how honey can be useful in health matters.
